Forecast
The main/obvious target was down near Abilene. I didn’t really leave in time to make it down that far, and storms were already starting to fire when I was passing Lawton. The storms west of me at that point near Matador, TX. I decided to bail west on 287 towards those instead of the southerly target. I missed some tornadoes after dark, but overall did alright.
Chasing
So as I was traveling down I-44 I started eyeing the area west of I-44. I wasn’t sure I could make it as far into Texas as I needed to be, and I also liked some of the backed winds in the area.
I headed west on US287 through Vernon and towards Quanah. I had to use the restroom and fill up with gas, so I stopped in Quanah for a quick pit stop.

When I first rolled up to the storm west of Quanah it had a pretty decent wall cloud. There were no other chasers around, just one Texas DPS officer that I saw. I continued with this little supercell through multiple cycles northeast across US287 and up into Oklahoma where it died a painfully slow death.
That’s where I called it quits.
